Dalrymple is the most overlooked writer/intellectual there is. He has zero public profile in the UK whatsoever, other than amongst his readers. He doesn't write for newspapers, appear on the radio or TV. I suppose occasionally he'd feature as a podcast guest. But he's so erudite, and so prolific. Truly a favourite of mine. Even all his old travel stuff he wrote under his real name (Anthony Daniels) about travelling by bus from Somalia to Nigeria or whatever was stirring. He's an old man now, it'd be nice to see him get more recognition before his obituaries are written.
