Compared with the rest of the U.S., activists much more likely to be rich, highly educated—and white
One of my favorite TV shows from high school was The O.C. Chris Pratt played an activist who studied at Brown, wore “eat the rich” shirts, and introduced himself as “Ché.” Later it’s revealed that he hails from a rich family and his name is short for “Winchester.” When I first watched this back in 2007, I didn’t understand the joke.
But now I do.
