Luxury Beliefs is mostly a subset of the Vision thing that Sowell talks about in depth. Lots of overlap on many issues, with many points you’d probably agree with, but perhaps haven’t made yourself.
Like the idea that all Luxury Beliefs also grant those elite believers more power. The book is full of relevant insights. I’m sad Sowell did not quite create a movement, was never a major intellectual leader. Rob, I’m not sure you want to become such a leader, but joining many of Jordan Peterson’s best insights, and advice on living, with Thomas Sowell’s explanations of the elite Luxury Beliefs, is an intellectual niche that is underserved. I hope your work helps to fill that niche, but it’s a choice you have to make about what you want to accomplish, while continuing to learn and discuss Truth as you see it.
Why is getting into a better college the recompense for being victimized? That seems to make no sense. We have courts, public policy, and other systems for victims. College is to educate people and we should match capabilities to levels of colleges and leave it at that. I guess it’s that progressives everything bagel every institution they run. Each institution has to reflect all their priorities whether that institution is suited to it or not.

Its research is obvious… but the writing makes it approachable and timely.
