[A sentence in] Saxon: “In today’s world, what works best is when you can catch eyes and sway how folks think and act.”
[The same sentence in] Latinate: “In contemporary markets, success depends exclusively on obtaining attention and inducing behavioral response.”
And I remember talking with a few people about it and how elites insisting on using language that not everyone speaks as well predicted (for them) why Trump would win, because everyone *CAN* understand Saxon, but not everyone understands (and connects with!!) Latinate...
Spot on, Rob. And I hope you read our comments because I have a personal story to share. My son started at UConn in the fall of 2020 and never quite "felt the love." Part of the reason is that it has become extremely competive for CT kids, because Uconn has become a popular school among NY and NJ kids in particular, plus kids from MA and other parts of New England can go there and pay the in-state tuition rate. As a result...he was assigned to UConn Stamford where he had a writing prof who gave him an F on his final paper because he never handed in an outline. His paper was fine - I went through 4 years of college and nighttime grad school without ever handing in an outlune, and what's more I wrote for a living - in which I never handed in, either. The prof had a Spanish surname and the class syllabus was full of woke crap about 'oppression' and 'intersectionality,' and 'identity' as it related to writing. I attempted to contact this prof but by the time I found out about my son's faux paus Dr. Hispanic was off travelling the world and the F thus remained. I googled Dr. H and learned this juicy tidbit: he was from Spain, i.e. a "White European." After 1.5 more years of this shit my son quit and joined the Air Force....coincidentally, I had just read "Troubled." We watched him graduate in 107 degree heat at Lackland AFB in June of 2024 and from cyber training in Biloxi that following September.
“Micro” reframes a binary - right and wrong - as a spectrum.
Looting is bad. Microlooting is only slightly bad. If the CEO makes 100x your salary, microlooting becomes a small act of justice.
What would a big act of justice be?
Many of your observations remind me very much of this article:

BTW...my nickname for the prof was a bit rude. I have Hispanic first cousins so a more fitting term in this case might be "Dr. Faux Hispanic."
Sine Hasan doesn’t care if people steal I suggest we go to his house and take all his stuff.
