Most certainly a Destination Wedding is absolutely a form of conspicuous consumption. It's also an extraordinarily rude imposition on potential attendees (supposedly ones loves ones and friends) such that I'm shocked it is EVER tolerated. I knew it was a ridiculous concept upon first hearing of them around 30 years ago (in my 20s). And nothing ha changed that. A destination is not only conspicuous consumption. It is arrogance and selfishness in the extreme. All the time, every time.
I agree . BUT , my daughter seems to go on a lot of these trips and she enjoys them. Nationally , internationally, etc. I’m waiting for the Moon edition!

Years ago I read that Isaac, by then a largely Jewish first name, had become so because it had been long-favored by British and American WASP elites. Once other ethnicities picked it up, it fell out of favor with the WASPs. Dunno if that is true, and, no, I couldn't find a link now - this was pre-internet, but I've always remembered it when I come across an "Isaac."
