Congratulations! What exciting news. Sounds like the exact right people to do your story justice on-screen.

Congratulations! The Balakers are great people.

On a related note, are you planning to be a nominee for Vice President in 2028?

Hey Rob! Congratulations!! Rather than overwhelming Ted with requests... Maybe they can setup some kind of "open-goal fundraiser"...? I would be happy to contribute, but probably not on the level of being a "commercial sponsor" of sorts...

Congratulations Rob. I hope it ends up on the screen to deliver the needed message and inspire real calls to action to improve the lives of so many children without the care they need and deserve.

This is really good news, and not a total shocker. Your story is dramatic by nature, and you captured that drama in the way you wrote it, especially in your fidelity to the way your own consciousness developed through all the changes you lived through. It feels natural to imagine it as a movie.

What is a shocker is to learn that Substack is getting into producing visual and dramatic content! Wow.

Wonderful news. I hope it turns out as well as Hillbilly Elegy did. Perhaps that was long enough ago to be a different era already and it’ll be harder to make this. I hope you don’t mind the obvious comparison to Vance’s book.

I just looked it up. Hillbilly Elegy was published June 2016, optioned 2017, filmed in 2019, and hit Netflix November 2020. I have no idea if that was fast, slow, or medium, but I won’t be holding my breath. I look forward to seeing it in 2027.

If we’re going by that timeline, I’ll look for your senate campaign in 2030. :)
